Kristopher R. Kahao

Kristopher “Kris” R. Kahao, an associate of Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, L.L.C., was admitted to practice law in Louisiana in 2008. His practice is concentrated in the areas of personal injury workers’ compensation, construction law and insurance.

Kris was educated at Louisiana State University from which he obtained a B.S. in 2001. He received a J.D. degree, cum laude, from Southern University Law Center in 2008.

Kris was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and grew up fishing, hunting and playing in the dirt on his family’s sugar cane plantations (Allendale & Ashland Plantations). Kris’ great-grandfather purchased Allendale Planation, previously owned by the second governor of Louisiana (Henry Watkins Allen), during the Civil War. Despite graduating from Tulane Law School, Kris’ great-grandfather never practiced law, choosing instead to “raise cane.”

Throughout most of his college years, Kris made his “home” in the culinary arts over a hot stove and grill. Upon graduation, with the intention of enrolling directly into law school, he ventured out West for a two month adventure. As a result of his travels, Kris decided to delay his legal training and accepted a position as Executive Sous Chef at the Gallatin River Lodge outside of Bozeman, Montana.

Upon returning to Louisiana, approximately one and a half years later, Kris started a grass fed beef company while continuing his work in the culinary arts. On June 27, 2004, Kris and his future wife, Kendra, were involved in a motor vehicle accident. Kris and Kendra became clients of Kleinpeter & Schwartzberg, and during that time Kris felt, with firsthand knowledge and experience as an injured party plaintiff, that his efforts would be better served assisting other injured persons in navigating through the “jungle/forest” of the civil justice system.

Kris, his wife Kendra, and their daughter, Adelyn Hays, along with their four dogs and feral pig, “Piggles”, currently reside on Allendale Plantation. In addition to fishing and hunting, Kris enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter on their property, including planting seasonal gardens and tending to their orchard.
